What we do

The work of Tax Human Resource Consulting is tremendously varied. It includes:

  • tax and social security
  • compensation and benefits
  • international pensions
  • immigration
  • employee share schemes and incentives
  • employment law
  • communications.

Advising clients on the complex tax implications for employees who are sent abroad to work and, in turn, come back to the UK, is another increasingly important component of the work we do.

Our people work closely with colleagues in other parts of the PwC HRC practice - professionals who are experts in areas such as communications, international assignments, equity, culture and change, compensation, regulatory, legal and process management. This means we can offer our clients an unmatched breadth and depth of expertise, both locally and globally - and we can offer you a rich variety of work.

Our Culture

HRC offers variety, superb client exposure and strong team support - plus the work-life balance you need. As we’re one of the best-connected global HR advisory businesses, you'll also have plenty of opportunity to network.

We're committed to helping all our employees develop their careers - and their ideas. We listen to everyone and welcome new opinions and fresh thoughts. And we encourage you to have your say from day one.

What you'll do

You'll work on diverse projects across all sectors of the economy, providing vital support to more senior colleagues. And whatever you work on, you'll learn about employment tax risk, employment cost reduction and employer social responsibility.

Projects are not purely tax-focused. Often they’ll include other areas such as HR, communication, negotiation, project management and employment law.

You can expect to get involved in thing like:

  • advising companies on managing the risk of HMRC compliance reviews
  • spending time in our expatriate compliance team working on the preparation of tax returns
  • helping a company deal with the impact of a merger
  • addressing environmental issues around how organisations can measure and reduce their C02 emissions
  • supporting clients implementing innovative, tax-efficient reward strategies to motivate staff and reduce costs
  • developing a strategy for managing an internationally mobile workforce
  • researching advice for high-net-worth individuals on personal tax compliance, estate and capital taxes planning or trusts
  • supporting teams that advise executives on investments and pensions management, or on how working overseas might affect their wealth
  • keeping pace with the frequent legislative changes that impact on our clients.

As the work is so varied and fast-paced, you’ll quickly develop a mix of technical and business skills.

Join on our graduate programme and your technical training will involve study for the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).

If you join HRC via our HEADstart programme, you’ll study for the ATT, a specialist tax qualification.

Training & Development

You'll develop business and personal skills through formal training, on-the-job experience, managing others and developing business relationships whilst you work alongside experienced and talented people.

As well as outstanding development opportunities, we’ll give you as much variety as possible with exposure to different clients, projects or areas of the tax practice.

You’ll not only pick up invaluable technical skills. You’ll also develop the ability to analyse businesses and see beyond a set of accounts, building strong industry knowledge. You'll become adept at project management, and develop a keen eye for business development opportunities.

About you

The world of HR is constantly changing. That’s why we need people who are open-minded and flexible, and who thrive on change. You must be able to:

  • empathise with clients
  • understand the challenges they face
  • come up with innovative solutions and convey them with credibility
  • build lasting relationships with clients
  • thrive in a demanding but supportive team environment.

You’ll also need a 2.1 in any discipline plus 300 UCAS points (or equivalent) to join our graduate programme. For our HEADstart programme, you’ll need at least 280 UCAS points.
