Five partners and directors oversee the Sheffield office, which has some 75 staff, including 11 trainees.
The office's client portfolio feature companies in the metals industries (Sheffield is known as the 'steel city'), manufacturing, property and construction, as well as financial services, utilities and public services. Sheffield also plays host to important growing sectors, such as engineering, medical science, sports technology and creative and digital industries - making for a highly diverse mix of current and potential future business.
Assurance, Tax and Business Recovery form the backbone of client services offered by PwC Sheffield.
As well as the traditional Christmas party and summer balls, there are a variety of social occasions organised by the office, which this year have included quiz nights, treasure hunts in Derbyshire and days out at the races. A team also took part in the World Corporate Games in Sheffield, and sporting activities organised by enthusiasts in the office include a football team that competes in a local league.
Along with colleagues from PwC Leeds, staff in Sheffield have worked together to raise funds for cancer charity Jane's Appeal and WaterAid, by participating in the End-to-End Cycling Challenge and the 6 Peaks Challenge, supported pound-for-pound by the firm. A team from the office also raised money for British Heart Foundation through their participation in the Trans-Peak Team Challenge.
More locally, staff from the office have painted a local primary school and helped to transform the grounds at Whirlow Hall Farm, an environmental and educational trust for inner-city children and young people with special needs or disabilities. They also support local organisations such as Music in the Round, the Great Sheffield Art Show, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United football Clubs.
As England's fourth-largest city and the fastest growing economy in the UK outside London - worth over £7bn a year - Sheffield is flourishing. With two universities, it has one of the highest graduate retention rates in the UK. Students and graduates coming to work at PwC here will find an excellent environment in which to live and work.
