Manchester

PwC has a thriving office in Manchester - one which, during 2009, will be relocating its workforce of almost 800 to Spinningfields, a major new business, retail and residential complex development, close to Deansgate. The office hires around 40 students and graduates annually, many of whom are from the North West, although there are trainees from elsewhere in the UK, as well as Pakistan, Cyprus and Hong Kong. And as a full-service office of PwC, there are opportunities in generalist and specialist traineeships in a host of business areas.

Our business

PwC's North West practice is highly successful, with particularly strong growth in its Corporate Finance and Performance Improvement Consulting teams, fuelled by thriving deal activity in the region. Other lines of service offered here include Government & Public Sector Services, Forensic Services, Business Recovery Services, Assurance & Regulatory Reporting, Human Resource Services, Tax and Transaction Services. Students and graduates who train in Manchester will therefore have the opportunity to learn about how PwC delivers professional services to provide a range of solutions to its clients.

The region offers outstanding opportunities for potential business development - and increasing opportunities for trainees - within the public sector, the corporate and mid-tier sectors and entrepreneurial private companies. The office deals with clients large and small in virtually every industry sector, including technology, retail, financial services, creative and media, and property and construction.

Enjoying PwC

As you'd expect for an office of this size, PwC Manchester has plenty going on to challenge, amuse and entertain staff outside working hours. As well as monthly drinks, an annual summer ball and Christmas party, there are regular departmental away days and organised sporting and social events, while the office has taken part in the UK corporate games.

A dedicated community affairs team identifies opportunities for staff to volunteer to put something back into the community in and around Manchester, in particular activities geared around education and employability. You can get involved with primary school reading schemes, as well as initiatives linked with Young Enterprise, the Prince's Trust and business dynamics, a charitable trust that introduces students to the challenges of business and improves their skills in readiness for work.

With plenty of opportunity to gain a rounded professional business education, top-class training and exposure to a host of industries and lines of service, PwC Manchester offers a superb base from which to launch your business career.
