Liverpool

Over 80 staff, including 3 partners and directors and around 20 trainees, make up the friendly, spirited workforce in our Liverpool office, which overlooks the Mersey and is close to the Albert Dock.

Our business

Industries serviced by the office include technology, retail, financial services, creative industries, public sector and property and construction, while our clients include several FTSE 250 and AIM-listed companies and a number of foreign-owned multinationals. Lines of service primarily focus on Assurance and Tax, although, as there are a significant number of owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurs amongst our client portfolio, we also provide a substantial amount of business advice.

Students and graduates who train here will learn about a wide range of sectors. And as we're highly proactive with business development initiatives, you'll also have the opportunity to accompany more senior colleagues to networking events and seminars in the city and surrounding areas. So, in addition to your mainstream audit or tax work, you might find yourself attending a Chamber of Commerce event, researching local companies or networking at a charity dinner.

The social scene

The Liverpool office has a busy sports and social committee that organises regular events for all - in fact, we like to think it's one of the main reasons why people who join us, stay with us. You'll not just get outstanding training and challenging work; you'll also enjoy the whole experience. And we welcome our annual intake of students and graduates with a meal and night out where you'll get to meet and socialise with your new colleagues and quickly feel part of the team.

Recent events have included a comedy club night, concerts at the Echo Arena and a trip to the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, while we organise away-days and of course our legendary Christmas party. We've also had drinks on the Mersey Ferry, days out to the races at Aintree and Haydock Park and a casino night.

On the sporting front, we have a five-a-side football team that competes in a local league (and who are the proud slayers of our rivals at PwC in Manchester), as well as a cricket team that plays against clients in the summer months. Our office also reigns supreme as the champion of PwC's annual sports day for the region, which included highly competitive football, netball and volleyball games.

Our community affairs team identifies opportunities for staff to give something back to the community - and we're all enthusiastic about joining in with a real hands-on approach. We've created a garden and an allotment for a local community centre, while, more adventurously, a few of us recently abseiled down the Liver Building - dressed as superheroes - to raise money for an arthritis charity. We also have close links with a number of local schools, where we mentor young people in employability skills.

Our quarterly newsletter keeps everyone up-to-date with what's going on around the office - from business wins to new joiners, from charity initiatives to sporting triumphs.

The highly personal feel of PwC's Liverpool office means that students and graduates who join us will quickly settle in and make good friends - add that to excellent training and all-round business exposure, and you can see why Liverpool is the first choice for so many future finance professionals.
