Hull

With a staff of around 80 - including 6 partners and directors, as well as 12 trainees studying for chartered qualifications - the Hull office has recently moved to a new waterfront development at Humber Quays, close to the city centre and great for shopping and after-work socialising, along with good transport links. The move represents PwC's commitment to growth and development of both the city and the firm within East Yorkshire. Around 50% of the staff are local, with the remaining coming from elsewhere in the UK and overseas.

Our business

As one of the UK's principal centres of maritime heritage, Hull is a major port and hub for importers and exporters; consequently, the PwC office deals with many companies in the shipping, food and drink and fisheries sectors, as well as in retail and chemicals.

In addition to providing Assurance, Tax and Financial Advisory services, we also have teams specialising in Forensics, Human Resources Services, Performance Improvement Consulting, Business Recovery, Corporate Finance and Transaction Services. The Hull office is a Global Compliance 'centre of excellence' within PwC, managing outsourced accounting, payroll, VAT and company secretarial work for clients across the North of England and the rest of the UK.

Enjoying PwC

The office has a busy sports and social scene. Recent organised events have included a barbeque, quiz night and dinner dance, while sports teams playing in local leagues include football and netball team. And for those who know their pop music, geography and current affairs inside-out, there's even a pub quiz team that travels to different quiz nights on a weekly basis - with mixed success…

We're enthusiastic participants in the firm's community affairs agenda - our staff have volunteered to help a number of local organisations, including children's organisations and churches. We've installed a new irrigation system at a local nursery and repainted a hospice, while we collect Christmas presents for people in disadvantaged areas each year. We work with Hull's branch of Business in the Community and have been mentoring potential police officers for Humberside Police.

Hull is enjoying an unprecedented period of growth and inward investment - creating many potential opportunities for both the PwC and its employees. That means students and graduates joining us can look forward to exposure to an exceptionally wide range of clients and industry sectors, as well as the chance to be involved in business development activities.
