With over 400 staff, including 40 partners and directors, the Edinburgh office plays host to a large number of trainees, who find working on a diverse client base in Scotland's flourishing capital city to be a prospect of great appeal.
The trainee mix includes people who have studied in Edinburgh, St Andrews, Glasgow, Belfast and further afield - as well as a number who have graduated from Newcastle under PwC's innovative Flying Start initiative. The office also attracts a large number of secondees from the PwC global network, with Nepal, Argentina, Brazil, the US, Africa and the Far East represented.
The office's client portfolio has a distinct financial services flavour - although a sizeable proportion are in manufacturing and energy, and many more are wealthy individuals receiving private client services. Public sector represents another significant source of business, with many big clients in Scotland.
Trainees, particularly in Assurance, have the opportunity to specialise in an industry sector, and can drill down even more if desired - for instance, within financial services, you might opt for banking, investment or insurance. Alternatively, you can maintain a breadth of experience, as, being a regional office, there's no requirement to specialise immediately.
Edinburgh is a full service office, which means you might spend time at some point in areas such as Forensics Services - something few other regional professional services firms offer. Transaction Services is growing, Corporate Finance has a presence and Tax provides a full range of services. Trainee actuaries will also find a large team in Edinburgh. The Risk Assurance Services team in Edinburgh provides services to clients across the UK, giving rise to travel opportunities. And with many infrastructure projects going on in Scotland, our Public Sector team will continue to thrive.
We have a great variety of sporting activities, including a successful cricket team, both 5-a-side and 11-a-side football teams, squash and netball. And in addition to our summer ball, individual departments have regular meals out, away days and other social events.
We're also organised into several social groups, where everyone, from partners to juniors from across different lines of service, mix together and get to know each other through events which have been as diverse as indoor golf, go-karting, paintballing and comedy evenings.
All staff are given the support to take on more corporate and social responsibility activities such as volunteering, blood donation and working with the Scottish Woodland Trust. As an office, we're enthusiastic participants in 'Force for Good', PwC Scotland's community affairs initiative, which has seen us litter-picking on Yellowcraigs beach and helping the Scottish Wildlife Trust to maintain gardens.
Diverse experience in Scotland's capital - come to PwC Edinburgh to live and train!
