Awarded the 'best of the best' award by the British Council for Office awards in 2004, the Birmingham Office, based in Cornwall Court, plays host to 1200 PwC staff.

The trainees in the office are recruited mainly from Midlands universities, although every part of the UK is represented. The office also has a large number of experienced secondees from a wide range of PwC's overseas contingent - from European cities to the States, China and Australia.

Our business

The office works with industry sectors ranging from automotive, manufacturing and aerospace to public sector, retail and owner-managed businesses. Students and graduates who come to work here will have the opportunity to gain a real breadth of exposure.

And that breadth isn't confined purely to the types of industry you'd work with. As a full-service office, Birmingham offers Assurance, Tax, Risk Assurance Services, Transaction Services, Forensics Services, Forensic Technology Solutions, Pensions Audit, Actuarial, Corporate Finance… and that's just a few of the lines of service represented here.

Enjoy working here

It's a large office - with friendly, close team environment. There are regular social drinks organised, both within teams and across the office, and an active social club. Team nights out are as diverse as the theatre and football (we have a box at Aston Villa with prize draws to win tickets). Other activities include go-karting, salsa nights and ten-pin bowling - as well as occasional adventure weekends. Our sports teams play in netball, football and cricket leagues, while Birmingham recently hosted that annual extravaganza, the pan-firm PwC pantomime, raising money for charity.

Our community affairs activities are well-supported. Staff get involved in literacy initiatives, while many work with the Prince's Trust, mentoring disadvantaged young people - for instance, helping them prepare for job applications and interviews. A number of our people act as school governors, bringing their experience to bear by helping with business and finance issues. And we enter a team each year to national charity events, the Three Peaks Challenge and Challenge 500.

As the UK's largest city outside London (and with a student population of some 120,000), we like to do our bit to retain that talent in the city. Graduates looking for a vibrant place in which to work and train will find a wealth of opportunity here.
