Valuations

When successful businesses need to take a step back in order to work out how to move forward, Valuations develops the innovative, often thought-provoking solutions they need. Not surprisingly, the work is always stimulating.

What we do

Valuations is a team of 200 specialists delivering expert valuation and rigorous financial, economic, regulatory and strategic advice on clients' businesses, brands, products, services, customers and markets.

Capitalising on PwC's extensive industry expertise and in-depth knowledge of both local and global business issues, we bring innovative ideas to the table and add value to our clients' organisations. We also offer regulatory advice that clarifies business models and resolves disputes.

We work with boards of directors and management teams to find solutions for questions about their strategic investments, such as:

  • What's it worth?
  • How can we improve its value?
  • Is our pricing right?
  • What's the best strategic option?
  • Where should we be placing our resources?
  • Is this a good deal? Can we defend it?
  • Are our regulators on board?
  • Is our business costing the earth?
  • Can we turn sustainability challenges to business advantage?

If we’re to be successful, our people must be instantly credible with powerful business leaders and entrepreneurs. That only happens if they can demonstrate a firm grasp of the client's challenge and are confident they can deliver.

What you'll do

You'll initially join one of our functional or industry-focused teams:

  • Consumer & industrial products and services
  • Energy, utilities & infrastructure
  • Financial services
  • Tax valuations
  • Telecoms, media and technology
  • Regional team (working across various industries around the UK)

You'll provide vital support for a project team. For instance you might be:

  • carrying out a country analysis for a client considering entering a new overseas market researching international competition rules – vitally important in a business world that’s increasingly regulated
  • modelling financing options so that we can advise a client on the viability of a potential cross-border merger.

Your work is crucial to our relationships with our clients. And everything you do will deepen your knowledge of different industries and markets while expanding your advisory capabilities.

Our culture

Teamwork is key to the culture at PwC. Valuations relies on everyone's input, especially as much of our work depends on knowledge of many different issues and markets. And when the advice your team gives ultimately leads to a spectacular success for a client, we celebrate together and reward accordingly.

We also believe in sharing knowledge. The quality of our advice revolves around the research, analysis and investigations we conduct. But we don’t just share the information we generate. The interpretation and insight we gain are also available to all. That means you’ll benefit from a wealth of experience and knowledge.

Training & development

The PwC Experience (Generalist Route) encourages you to move around the firm and gain as much experience as you can over your first five years. This not only helps you make a more informed decision about your future career. It also builds your skills, making you a more rounded and able professional.

You'll have a career coach who'll help you focus on your development needs, clarify your career objectives and identify the business areas that will give you the experience you need. This, along with the rich experience you gain while working on various client projects, will help you decide the course of your long-term career.

You'll study for the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). Once you qualify, you can choose to specialise in a particular area of interest, inside or outside the Valuations, or even work for us overseas.

About you

Our clients turn to us to help them address the big issues. So our people must use their intellect and powers of analysis to the full. You’ll need to bring an innovative, thoughtful approach to finding solutions and be enthusiastic about developing your knowledge of industry and markets. You'll also need to be confident, credible and an excellent communicator.

You'll need a 2.1 in any discipline and 300 UCAS points (or equivalent).
