Macroeconomics is a specialised part of this team. Its high-profile work regularly receives national and international press coverage.

Graduate economists tend to gain most of their experience within the business area they initially join – so if you have a strong preference, tell us. But later on you may have the chance to work in other teams, or even abroad.
Our Culture
We like to give early responsibility. And as we work in small teams, it won't be long until you’re off to client meetings and providing crucial support on projects. We also foster a sense of entrepreneurship. We see identifying and capitalising on new business development opportunities as an integral part of our work.
The atmosphere is highly supportive. You'll work alongside highly intelligent colleagues who have finely-honed economic minds. And they'll be happy to share their knowledge and skills with you. In fact, the way our experienced economists proactively help to develop our trainees' careers is one of the reasons that people who join us, stay with us.
What you'll do
Early involvement in a project team means you’ll contribute ideas and analysis from the day you join. Before long you’ll be meeting clients face to face, tackling their issues first hand and helping us win business.
You’ll work with a wide range of professionals, including non-economists who bring advisory and corporate finance skills to bear, so you’ll pick up industry knowledge from a host of different industry experts. Exposure to everything from specialised techniques – like mathematical modelling, econometrics, cost of capital, and sustainable economics – to more general financial modelling and accounting expertise will also help you gain a diverse range of skills.
Training & Development
Your involvement in client work is complemented by a programme of training and on-the-job coaching, as well as support for professional qualifications – for instance, Chartered Financial Analyst.
We'll train you to a high standard in technical areas such as:
- econometrics
- mathematical modelling
- cost of capital
- sustainable economics.
We’ll also develop your general financial modelling and accounting skills. In addition, you'll benefit from PwC's superb suite of e-learning, database and research tools, and attend leading-edge economics seminars to build your knowledge.
As your experience grows, you’ll gain exposure to client projects across a wide range of skill areas, sectors and locations – giving you ample opportunity to find your niche and continue progressing.
About you
We're looking for people who share our passion for applying economics knowledge in real-life situations. You’ll need an agile, creative, enquiring mind that can spot those vital, telling connections between economic data. As report writing and delivering presentations will be among your responsibilities, outstanding communication skills are also essential.
You'll need at least a 2.1 and 340 UCAS points (or equivalent). Your first degree should be in Economics or have a strong Economics element. A second degree in Economics or a related discipline would be a plus.
