What we do

Corporate & Indirect Tax helps organisations reduce their tax burden and manage their affairs more efficiently while keeping pace with regularly changing tax regimes both at home and overseas. We work with everyone from multinationals and UK companies to privately-owned organisations and family businesses.

Our teams include:

  • Corporate Tax - the largest and most experienced corporate tax practice in the UK, helping companies manage and minimise their tax costs and risks
  • Indirect Tax - also the largest of its kind in the UK. It looks at indirect tax implications for all our clients, including issues arising from corporate restructuring, international transactions or an e-business initiative (often working with PwC overseas offices)
  • Entrepreneurial and Private Clients (EPC) - advises on the local and overseas tax affairs of growing companies, partnerships and wealthy individuals; and offers strategic consultancy advice on areas such as business analysis, working capital management and partners' profit-sharing arrangements.

Our Culture

You'll be working in an environment that's focused on finding solutions - and not always those that are most obvious. That's why we welcome people who combine technical aptitude and understanding with a flair for lateral thinking. Commitment to excellence in everything we do is pivotal to the Tax practice and the wider firm. So we'll expect you to develop a keen instinct for delivering the very best for your clients.

We're also team-orientated. You'll work alongside colleagues who are at the top of their fields and who’ll be happy to share their advice, knowledge and experience. As you grow with the firm, you’ll do the same.

What you'll do

You’ll work in teams, advising some of the world's largest multinationals, or with entrepreneurs helping them get exciting new companies off the ground. You can expect genuine responsibility from the start and involvement in things like:

  • making sure the tax compliance process runs smoothly
  • liaising with our overseas offices to co-ordinate projects
  • researching business issues that will affect clients’ tax affairs
  • providing bespoke tax advice to your clients
  • working with clients and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs to gather information and reach conclusions on tax enquiries
  • planning, researching and tailoring ideas to clients' needs.

And as you develop, the challenge and complexity of your tasks will grow.

At the same time, you’ll study for the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).

Traning & development

You'll develop business and personal skills through both formal training and on-the-job experience as you work alongside experienced and talented people.

As well as outstanding development opportunities, we’ll give you as much variety as possible with exposure to different clients, projects or areas of the Tax practice.

You’ll not only pick up invaluable technical skills. You’ll also develop the ability to analyse businesses and see beyond a set of accounts, building strong industry knowledge. You'll become adept at project management and develop a keen eye for business development opportunities.

About you

Our work calls for everything from meticulous research and intelligent analysis to the ability to juggle priorities and conduct shrewd negotiations. So we're looking for potential in a whole range of areas. You'll need to have:

  • the passion to deliver the best for your clients
  • outstanding problem-solving ability
  • teamworking skills
  • a flair for handling complex numerical data
  • an ability to influence and inspire others
  • a 2.1 in any discipline plus 300 UCAS points (or equivalent).

Dealing with clients who range from world-class employers to bright new start-ups, you’ll have the perfect arena in which to launch your business career.
