Our Accountants might be the most visible side of our business, but they will be the first to acknowledge that the success of their work depends to a great extent on everyone on the client service team. This includes the people who do things like bill the assignments, help manage the projects and know their way around our files.. Without them, it's fair to say that things would quickly grind to halt.
Our Client Account Associates (CAAs) are a key part of the client service team. You could say that being a CAA is like having two or three jobs rolled into one. There could be any number and variety of activities to perform each day, such as setting up an urgent conference call between a few of our offices, complete the monthly costings report for a client or carry out some research on a particular industry or issue. What's certain is that you'll be dealing with people from all over our business and with our clients as well.
Not surprisingly it can be a bit of a juggling act. That's why the people we look for, besides having A level education or equivalent, tend to be natural organisers and self-starters. They also have to have the confidence and rapport to deal with all kinds of people and fit into a professional team.
It's not a route to an accountancy career, but there are opportunities to move onward and upward, working towards promotion to Client Account Senior, which would involve coaching a team of CAA's.
Working as a CAA is like any job at PwC - you provide the talent and the commitment and the support will be there to help you progress within the team. And make no mistake, you'll be a pivotal part of that team.
