On 29 October our firm conducted an Executive Business Breakfast that brought together a forum of representatives from major Ukrainian companies, foreign investors and PricewaterhouseCoopers Tax and Legal Services specialists. The breakfast focused on recent developments in the Ukrainian real estate market.

Senior Tax Partner Ron Barden introduced the topics for discussion and then opened the floor for presentations from PwC's tax and legal experts. They concentrated on the pressing issues of the current real estate market and suggested new methods for its development.

Topics included:

  • The global financial crisis and its potential impact on the real estate industry in Ukraine
  • Recent legislative changes on:
  • - Land legislation
  • - Development, construction and commissioning of buildings
  • New NBU regulations on foreign loans and foreign exchnage issues
  • Tax update on the recent clarifications issued by the tax authorities that may affect real estate projects in Ukraine
  • An update on the status of the Ukraine-Cyprus treaty.
Participants asked questions and discussed new opportunities for development, as well as the possible impact of recent legislative changes on their businesses.
