Telecommunications

This is a sector that is undergoing fundamental change in Tanzania, with good support from the Government. Such support includes a continuing review of the legal and regulatory framework and fiscal measures to improve tax incentives.

So far there are 5 licensed mobile telephone operators in the country and 1 operator of payphones, in addition to the government-owned fixed line telephone company. The latter is in the process of privatisation.
