At PwC Turkey, we have completed our Energy Deals 2011 report, the fourth issue of our annual report on mergers and acquisitions in Turkey’s energy sector. The report provides information for local and international investors operating or planning to invest in Turkey’s energy sector. While giving information about mergers and acquisitions in Turkey, the survey also provides insight into the opinions and expectations of industry representatives.

In our report on 2011, we review the year’s important mergers and acquisitions and the factors that affected the general trends in the sector. The total value of the 29 mergers and acquisitions that were carried out in 2011 was USD1.2 billion, which is below 2010’s figure. One of the main reasons behind the lower figure was a failure to complete privatization tenders for electricity distributors, which was due to high transaction values and difficulties in securing financing.
