Opportunities and Challenges in the Turkish Renewable Energy Market

The Turkish electricity market is currently the scene of a series of changes in legislation, many of them long awaited. The new Electricity Market Strategy Paper outlines the updated next steps in market liberalisation and introducing new resource utilisation targets in power generation. The proposed amendments to the Renewable Energy Law, meanwhile, aim to upgrade and differentiate the feed-in tariff structure with regards to sources. Accordingly this report aims to on the one hand guide existing and potential investors and their financiers and on the other communicate their expectations and concerns to decision makers.
