(25/2008)

The last 12 months have seen an unprecedented global financial crisis together with political turmoil at home. Whilst Thailand has been largely insulated from the worst effects of the financial crisis, political uncertainty has affected business and the economy.

Our 10 th annual Tax and Legal Conference ‘ Road to Recovery ’ will address the most pressing issues ahead of us in the next 12 months. This year’s conference will therefore focus on helping businesses create their own maps to successfully navigate the unknown territory ahead.

Day 1 of the conference will provide an update of the challenges and opportunities presented in the coming year. Our panel of speakers will discuss Thailand’s tax collection policy and how this compares to other neighboring countries. Furthermore, the panel will hold a Tax Investigation Session, analyzing approaches implemented by the Revenue Department and sharing the most common tax issues challenged by the Revenue Officers. The afternoon session will wrap up with an examination of key changes to business law including recent changes to Company Law, current restrictions under the foreign exchange control regulations and a brief discussion on SET regulations.

Day 2 will start with a look at the Revenue Department’s Transfer Pricing Regulations and the use of Advanced Pricing Regulations to mitigate transfer pricing risks. Our panel will then tackle the following topics: how to effectively manage indirect tax, pro-active risk minimizing strategies to international trade, tax planning for international assignments, common catches in CIT computation, and tax planning loopholes and pitfalls.

Participants are welcome to attend 4 sessions of their choice.

Both clients and non-clients are welcome to join this event. The conference is scheduled to take place from 10-11 November, 2008 in the Grand Ballroom, 4 th Floor, Inter-Continental Hotel Bangkok.

Please note that Day 1 of the conference will be conducted in Thai, with simultaneous English translation. Day 2 will be conducted in both Thai and English. Please refer to enrolment form for the language of each individual break-out session.
