3% Thai Social Security contribution rate: effective from July through December 2009

According to an announcement made on 9 July 2009, the rate of the Social Security Fund contributions to be made by employers and insured individuals in order to be eligible for the following benefits: accident or injury, disability, death, maternity, child allowance, old age pension and unemployment, will be reduced to 3% of earnings

This new rate of 3% of earnings up to a maximum level of Baht 15,000 per month will be applied for six months only i.e. from July through December 2009. For all employees earning in excess of Baht 15,000 per month, their contributions will decrease from Baht 750 to Baht 450 per month.
