Foreign banks in China - 2010

One of the key observations from the survey was that the foreign banks now view their domestic counterparts as formidable competitors. The increased competition and a stricter regulatory environment had affected the speed and scope of their progression in China. Other findings of particular interest include the continuing growth and expansion of services by Chinese banks, new product and service opportunities for the foreign banks such as wealth management and debt capital markets, reflections on the degree of success of equity investments in China and the results of the peer review. Chief executive officers, senior executives and branch managers of 42 foreign banks in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Shenzhen participated in the survey based on interviews conducted in January and February this year. The survey focuses on issues that concerns foreign banks in China.
