On 25 July, PwC Singapore held a breakfast briefing session to look at the various aspects of conducting Research and Development ("R&D") in Singapore for the Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences industry from a tax and commercial perspective.
This informative session was hosted by Abhijit Ghosh, Tax partner and Ajay Sanganeria, Tax Senior Manager from PwC Singapore. Dr. Ong Siew Hwa, Director and Chief Scientist of Acumen Research Laboratories Pte Ltd also join us as guest speaker during the session. Siew Hwa has worked on various R&D projects with major pharmaceutical companies.
The session was focused on the following:
- tax and financial incentives that exist to assist companies establish and conduct R&D functions in Singapore
- relevant opportunities and challenges that exist in relation to talent, infrastructure and collaborations
- regulatory considerations of doing R&D in Singapore.
