SINGAPORE, 5 May 2014 - A total of 1,838 students from across the world sat the March 2014 Professional Stage examinations, which ensures students have a firm understanding of accounting concepts and principles. The Spicer and Pegler Prize has been awarded since 1981 to commemorate an accountancy firm established in 1902 that worked to improve the standards of tuition and training in the profession.
Jackson Lim also received the highest exam award at last year’s ICAEW-Singapore annual dinner, and is a graduate from Nanyang Polytechnic and Nanyang Technological University. Speaking of his achievement, Jackson said, “I’m extremely thankful to PwC partners and colleagues for their support in helping me achieve this. The ACA examinations are tough but not insurmountable – and I am very happy to be able to continue onto the next stage of the qualification with the continued support of the local ICAEW team and my PwC colleagues.”
The ICAEW chartered accountancy qualification, the ACA, is held by over 142,000 members across more than 160 countries. The ACA qualification is one of the most advanced learning and professional development programmes available. Its integrated components provide individuals with an in-depth understanding across accountancy, finance and business. Combined, they help build the technical knowledge, professional skills and practical experience needed to become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
“Jackson’s achievement against a global cohort demonstrates PwC’s commitment to training highly qualified and dynamic finance professionals, capable of meeting the needs of local and regional clients who use Singapore as a base,” said Sam Kok Weng, PwC Singapore. “We are very proud of Jackson and look forward to the continued success of ICAEW students training at PwC.”
“Training for the ACA is rigorous but it is a rewarding process which equips graduates with the skills needed to excel in the global workforce,” said Mark Billington, Regional Director, ICAEW Southeast Asia. “Jackson’s success highlights the potential of our current and future ACA candidates in Singapore. We are extremely proud and happy to celebrate this achievement with him, and we are thankful for PwC for providing the work place training needed to develop the next generation of business leaders.”
