PwC Singapore's inaugural Accelerator programme has been established

  • TMT industry in Singapore in good position to address fast growing markets in Asia
  • PwC Singapore launches its inaugural Accelerator programme to allow overseas and local high-growth TMT companies to leverage on this potential

Singapore, 9 April 2013 – PwC Singapore launched its inaugural Accelerator programme today, 9 April 2013, in Singapore. The Accelerator program has been established to help high-growth Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) companies accelerate their growth and expansion in Asia.  The launch event brought together potential investors including venture capitalist firms, as well as private and corporate investors, along with overseas and local high-growth companies that are looking for funding and business partners to help them execute their business plans and maximise growth opportunities.

“As new digital technologies change the way we work, play and communicate, we are seeing new innovation and new emerging business models like never before.  The Technology, Media and Telecommunications sectors find themselves at the centre of these changes and Asia are increasingly seen as the driver of growth globally for organisations. We are seeing many high growth companies with tremendous potential and PwC’s Accelerator Programme will help these high-potential companies accelerate their development and tap into Singapore’s ideal location to rapidly expand into markets in the Asia Pacific region,” commented Greg Unsworth, Technology, Media and Telecommunications Leader, PwC Singapore*.

“Many of these companies have already taken bold steps to incubate their businesses; we will now seek to help them take the next strides to find new markets in Asia and beyond and for overseas high potential companies to gain a foothold and accelerate their growth in this region,” said Greg Unsworth.

Singapore is already recognised by many of these high growth high potential companies as an ideal location to base themselves to address the fast growing markets in Asia. It is well recognised that Singapore has excellent infrastructure, a developing pro-business environment and a technology-savvy consumer base. The government is already focused on developing these sectors and doing much through funding initiatives, entrepreneur development schemes and incentives for new entrants as well as providing broad-based support for technology development and research.

In many ways, investing and expanding in a new and growing market is not always easy. Once companies are ready to look at the potential in Asia, there are still many challenges to building a successful and sustainable presence in the market.  This often involves establishing an effective base and structure for growth, sourcing funding and valuable business partners and establishing an effective business model and operations to support growth.  PwC’s Accelerator programme will help address these business fundamentals to enable innovative, high growth companies to reach their potential.
