Executive Chairman Gautam Banerjee announces his successor for PwC Singapore
Singapore, 17 June 2012 - PwC Singapore Executive Chairman Gautam Banerjee is pleased to announce the appointment of Yeoh Oon Jin as Executive Chairman Designate with effect on 1 July 2012. As Gautam’s successor to Singapore’s leading professional services firm, Oon Jin will be the next Executive Chairman of PwC Singapore on 1 January 2013.
Gautam Banerjee, the current Executive Chairman of PwC Singapore, will be retiring on 31 December 2012, having reached the firm’s mandatory retirement age for Partners after more than 30 years with the firm. Mr Banerjee was appointed Executive Chairman of the firm on 1 January 2004 and has seen to the successful growth of the Singapore firm, including the transformation of the firm from a predominantly audit and tax practice to a multi-disciplinary professional services firm. During his term, he brought the Singapore firm closer to the PwC network to promote exchange of talent and drive more seamless service to PwC’s regional and international clients. He has undertaken leadership positions within the wider PwC network – as member of PwC’s Global Strategy Council of leaders, as Chief Operating Officer of the network cluster within Asia, and as Interim Chairman of PwC India (2009- 2010).
Outside of PwC, Mr Banerjee is widely recognised for actively advancing the role of the private sector and the interest of Singapore as an international business centre. His current roles outside the firm include serving as Vice Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, and serving on the Boards of the Economic Development Board, the APEC Business Advisory Council and the Yale-NUS College. From 2007 to 2009, Mr Banerjee also served as Nominated Member of Parliament in Singapore. He was a member of the Corporate Governance Council of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (2010-2012) and the Steering Committee for Reviewing the Companies Act (2007-2009).
Yeoh Oon Jin has been Leader of the Singapore firm’s Assurance service line since 2004, the firm’s largest practice in terms of revenue and headcount. Mr Yeoh has been with PwC for 25 years. He is a key and experienced member of the firm’s Leadership Team, and has led the firm through key growth milestones. He has also spearheaded key committees in the firm, including the PwC Singapore Strategies Committee and the firm’s Professional Standards Group. Mr Yeoh is a Board Member of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, Jurong Town Corporation, National Arts Council and has been a Council Member of the Singapore Institute of Directors for the last five years. He is also a Council Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS), Chairman of the Auditing & Assurance Standards Committee of ICPAS and Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
