We are delighted to share the first edition of the Romanian Banking Banana Skins survey, which is part of the 13th Banking Banana Skins Survey produced by the Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation (CSFI) in 49 countries and sponsored by PwC. This Survey aimed at senior executives in the banking industry, identifies high level issues where the banking industry may be vulnerable.
The 2010 poll of banking risk assessed the 30 most serious risks to banks during this period of financial crisis. The poll is based on responses from 450 senior figures from the financial world, which include practising bankers as well as close observers of the financial scene and regulators. In Romania, 13 senior level banking managers participated in the survey.
Credit risk is the most slippery of banana skins for the Romanian bankers, who to a great extent share the same ideas with their counterparts around the world.
The findings of the global survey show significant fears deriving from the political interference and credit risk. In 2008 the biggest source of bankers’ worries was the issues arising from political interference, which is also the biggest bugbear this year.
