eContent

eContent

eContent is a market oriented programme which aims to support the production, use and distribution of European digital content and to promote linguistic and cultural diversity on the global networks.

The main goal of the programme is to build a healthy and competitive EU digital content market by enhancing the competitiveness of e-content providers, and particularly by:

Improving access to new technologies, including the Internet,

Stimulating the development of digital content,

Promoting the use of digital content disseminated by global telecom networks,

Supporting small and medium size enterprises from the multimedia and telecommunications sector.

eContent is based on three lines of action:

Improving access to and expanding use of public sector information,

Promoting the production of multilingual and multicultural content,

Increasing the dynamics of the digital content market.

The eligible target group consist of:

   IT companies,

   Translation companies and linguists,

   Internet providers,

   Financial institutions and consulting companies,

   Promotion and PR companies,

   New entrants to the market,

Public institutions, cultural institutions, publishing houses, libraries, archives,

Other institutions interested in this field of activities.

The dynamic nature of the e-content market and the rapidly evolving socio - economic framework imply that the programme concentrates on projects having a relatively short time - to - market (not exceeding 24 - 36 months in most cases).

Most projects will be based upon a multilateral co-operation of at least two partners from two different countries (at least one partner should come from an EU Member State).
