A charity performance of the Misterium Stabat Mater by Włodek Pawlik and the Musica Sacra Gregorian Choir took place on November 2nd at 08:00 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Church in Gdańsk. During previous years, PricewaterhouseCoopers organised concerts to support the renovation of historical monuments, among others in Poznań and in Cracow. This year’s Misterium Stabat Mater proceeds shall be used for the renovation of a church in Gdańsk.

The Responsible Business Forum we are a Leading Partner of, the World Bank, and CSR Europe organised their Responsible Business – New Development Strategy conference in Warsaw on October 6th and 7th 2003. This was the first conference on the corporate social responsibility concept to be organised in Central and Eastern Europe. Presentation panels described global trends in CSR and achievements in the field in the Polish business community – among other topics. More at www.fob.org.pl.

The 11th Summer School of Civic Society Leaders has become history. During the first days of September 2003, forty young social activists participated in intense workshops organise to prepare attendants for their future social moderator role. According to a new study by the Polish-British Chamber of Commerce, 77% of the 4,000 surveyed companies declared CSR to be important to their organisations. Moreover, 46% confirmed opportunities of developing CSR in Poland, but the term was ambiguous for 44% of survey respondents. This may prove poor knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility in the Polish business community. The survey proved further that there are certain barriers limiting CSR development, such as information. As many as 59% of those surveyed would like to have access to guidelines enabling CSR programmes implementation. More at www.bpcc.org.pl.
