Integration Away Days
In June, the Foundation participated in two integration away days. Since last year these events are combined with social projects.
This year the theme of the Finance Department's Away Day, was a "trip" to far away Africa and we were also transported into the atmosphere of Mediaeval times.
Our Away Day began with a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Zimbabwe and the Salesian Mission Centre.
During a video-conference with volunteers currently in Zimbabwe, we were able to see how the young people there lived and the sort of problems with which they are faced.
After the meeting, we organized handicraft workshops, and when we returned from our trip we organized an auction of our work in the PwC offices in Warsaw. All the monies received were earmarked for building sports fields/pitches in Zimbabwe.
During the second Away Day, we took part in an off-road car rally in Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska, together with children from the Ośrodek Opiekuńczo-Wychowawczy in Zawiercie. We all had an opportunity to drive cars through the Jura Forests and the Błędów Desert [Polish: Pustynia Błędowska]. The children acted as pilots and had an opportunity to use maps that had been specially prepared. During the rally we took short breaks during which we were able to visit castles in the immediate vicinity and to admire the splendid views.
