Isla Lipana & Co. admits two new audit partners

Isla Lipana & Co., a member firm of the PwC global network, announced the admission of Aldie P. Garcia and Jan Michael L. Reyes to the firm. This admission brings PwC’s partnership in the Philippines to 21 men and women effective 1 July 2013.

Aldie Garcia is a Certified Public Accountat (CPA) who has over 11 years of extensive assurance and advisory experience serving  multinational and domestic companies in industries such as telecommunication, technology, healthcare, entertainment, gaming and agriculture.

His two-year secondment to the Gatwick office of PwC UK in 2007 honed his expertise those sectors.

A sought-after speaker on accounting standards and regulatory compliance, Aldie has attended technical and methodology courses in Singapore, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Korea. He has hands-on knowledge of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). He has also participated in PwC Global quality reviews in Sydney, Australia.

Aldie earned his Accounting degree from the University of La Salette in Santiago City, Isabela (Cum Laude).He placed 16th in the October 2000 CPA licensure examination. In August 2011, he graduated from PwC's Genesis Park Leadership Development Program in Boston, USA where he was invited as a speaker in the investors forum sponsored by the Boston Business Club. He finished the Management Development Program at the Asian Institute of Management in October 2012 with a Superior Performance Award.

JM Reyes, also a CPA, expands the firm's industry expertise with his more than 11 years of solid assurance experience in manufacturing and trading, entertainment and media, healthcare, transportation, logistics and technology. His experience includes financial due diligence reviews and initial public offerings.

A proud Bulakenyo from Malolos City, JM graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration and Accountancy from the University of the Philippines, Diliman (UP Diliman). JM spent two years on secondment in PwC UK's London office where he was promoted as a manager in July 2006 and managed some of PwC UK's more complex audit engagements. He attended PwC-sponsored IFRS and methodology courses, industry expertise programs and leadership courses in Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Macau. He also participated in PwC global quality reviews conducted in Hyderabad and Mumbai, India and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In 2010, he earned a Masters in Management degree and graduated at the top of his class (with Distinction) from the Asian Institute of Management. He also served as a teaching fellow of Accounting in UP Diliman’s National College of Public Administration and Governance for several semesters.
