The study stresses the need for banks to drive growth through customer-centric engagement and discusses six priorities that it should embrace to be successful in 2020. These are:

  • Developing a customer-centric business model
  • Optimising distribution
  • Simplifying business and operating models
  • Obtaining an information advantage
  • Enabling innovation and the capabilities required to foster it
  • Proactively managing risk, regulations and capital

The survey also finds that Asia Pacific is well positioned in the digital space, with leading practices, top-down views and holistic approaches well underway. In contrast, digital discussions appear less often on European and North American board agendas, which increase the chances of misalignment between corporate and digital strategies.
