PwC exchanges ideas and insights with members of the international and local groups at the UN headquarters in Tacloban City

Witnessing first hand the damage caused by Typhoon Haiyan in Dulag, Leyte

PwC Philippines, led by Assurance Partner and Corporate Responsibility Leader Gina Detera, joined Rt. Hon. Lord Jack McConnell of Glenscorrodale, a UK Parliament member, in his recent visit to Tacloban City and certain municipalities for a multi-sectoral discussion on the continuing Typhoon Haiyan rebuilding efforts.

The PwC Philippines team and Lord McConnell, who is also in the PwC UK Advisory Board, met with members of the United Nations and international and local civil society groups actively helping in rebuilding the lives of victims of the typhoon. They visited the towns of Dulag and Capoocan, where they discussed among others, typhoon-resilient shelters and livelihood programs that will be critical in ensuring sustainable path to rebuilding the lives of those affected.

PwC Philippines made the trip to Leyte to kick off its own rebuilding projects in Leyte and Samar. Our CR team met with teachers and parents of schools where damaged classrooms will be repaired or new ones built. The meeting with various multi-sectoral groups gave our team important insights and a network they could tap for various CR projects. The others in the PwC team were Allan Cao, Edwin Padillo, Dennis Bautista and Bernadatte Aucina.

Lord McConnell’s visit to Leyte last 15 February, is part of a week-long volunteer work for the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Bahaginan and "Beyond 2015 Philippines".
