Alex, both a Certified Public Accountant and lawyer, is the Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC Philippines since 2013. He is currently a board member in PwC’s Southeast Asia Regional Consulting practice.
Before becoming Chairman and Senior Partner, he was Tax Managing Partner of the firm. He is also the managing partner of Cabrera & Company, a law firm he founded in 2002.
Alex is a columnist of the Philippines’ leading print and digital newspaper, The Philippine STAR. His “As easy as ABC” column published every Sunday tackles legal, commercial and social issues.
He spearheaded several initiatives, such as the Developmental Social Enterprise Awards (DSEA) in 2014 in partnership with BCYF, the Philippine Gems campaign to identify the country’s next wave of tourist destinations, and the Philippine Resiliency: A Gem Uncovered project on top Filipino CEOs’ insights.
The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) recognized him twice with an Outstanding CPA in Public Practice Award in 2015 and a Young Achiever in Public Practice Award in 1998.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the Philippine School of Business Administration, which in 2006 named him as one of its outstanding alumni. He earned his Juris Doctor at the Ateneo de Manila University in 1994 and became a lawyer in 1995. Alex attended a leadership and management program at Harvard Business School in 2006. He has recently completed Wharton University’s CEO Global Transformation program.
At the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP), he is currently the Chairman of the Tax Committee.
Alex is married to Josephine Sia, and they are blessed with two children: Alec Antonio and Joshua Exequiel.
