Healthcast 2020: Creating a sustainable future

Healthcare organisations and governments are urgently seeking solutions to manage costs while balancing the need to provide access to safe, high quality care. Under current demand management systems, the healthcare organisations of today will be unable to meet demand in the future. The findings of the study indicate the existing silo activity within health care sectors must be reviewed with a focus on collaboration and efficiency.

The Pricewaterhousecoopers (PwC) Health Research Institute surveyed more than 580 executives from hospitals and hospital systems, physician groups, payers, governments, medical supply companies and employers from 27 countries. In-depth interviews were conducted with more than 120 healthcare thought leaders in 16 countries, and interviewees included policy makers, employee benefit managers and top executives of health organisations in Australia, Canada, Europe, India, the Middle East, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the US.
