Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

Jul 09 2009

General information Programme Date & participation Location

The PricewaterhouseCoopers Lean Six Sigma programme for Black Belts provides the skills and knowledge a participant will need for leading a diverse range of business improvement projects. These projects each typically set out to deliver sustainable post tax annualised benefits in excess of €100k and comprise structural improvements requiring ‘out of the box’ thinking. The program is a very effective means to developing the management skills of participants while delivering projects in real time.

Prior to the training a high-level assessment is executed and a business case is developed together with the client (Pre-define phase). This results in a selection of business improvement projects.

Each participant then starts the training, combining the training theory (DMAIC) with projects to apply the LSS concepts and tools in real-time.

While this approach is strongly recommended it is also possible to only follow the training and opt for a theoretical certification only.

Participants are certified (theory) based on successfully passing examinations for each of the training sessions. In addition, participants receive their ‘Black Belt practioner’ accreditation when having passed all tollgate reviews and successfully executed an improvement project.

Results are monitored throughout the program and keep the client involved at all times.

The trainers are all Master Black Belts or Black Belts and seasoned performance improvement and change management professionals.
Participants will be coached between sessions to ensure success to the maximum extent possible.

Black Belt candidates learn to use:

  • The various and most essential insights and tools of Lean manufacturing
  • The Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools
  • The DMAIC approach (combines "Lean" and "Six Sigma") for a process improvement
  • Statistical tools and techniques to make fact-based decisions
  • Personal and team effectiveness skills
  • Communications and change management tools and techniques

Additionally, the participant could be enabled to execute an improvement project parallel to the theory. Such a project will take between part-time and full-time attention, depending on the type of project. In case the participant is interested, the exact project criteria can be discussed.

Participants need to take into account that during the sessions little time is left for other work related issues. Each session also consists of 1 or 2 evening programmes.
