Business Decision Makers' Survey on HIV and AIDS

PwC and Namibian Business Coalition on Aids (NABCOA): Business decision makers' Survey on HIV and AIDS responses in the Namibian business sector

Namibia has made great strides in the fight against HIV/Aids, but the war is by no means over. All opportunities for the Government of Namibia to partner with the private sector, in this area and other areas, should be utilised to the fullest extent possible.

PwC has concluded the above-mentioned survey that sought to collate the views, opinions and experiences of Namibian business leaders on HIV/AIDS. This research study was a follow-up to the 2007 survey which proved to be a successful and popular endeavour. The results of the 2007 study provided a view into what activities the Namibian business community had been undertaking to mitigate the impacts of HIV/AIDS in the workplace.

With the 2013 study, it was our intention to gauge the response across various industries and business sizes, to collate success stories so that the business sector as a whole is more empowered to respond effectively to this challenge that threatens our organisations’ most valuable resource, our people.

This survey was made possible through the generous support, and contributions of:

  • Namibian Business Coalition on AIDS ("NABCOA");
  • The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) ; and
  • The Abt Associates-led Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project.
