Ebène, Mauritius
Recognising excellence in corporate reporting since 12 years
The Corporate Reporting Awards (CRA) organised by PricewaterhouseCoopers in Mauritius (PwC) will bring a number of innovations:
What’s new for the 2010 event?
1. The final judging panel
The final judging panel (The Jury) will be external to PricewaterhouseCoopers, but we will still be involved in the coordination of the whole process and in the organisation of the Awards Ceremony. The Jury will consist of users of reports or typical readers of annual reports from various institutions and sector groups.
2. What will be assessed?
The three main assessment criteria will be content, clarity and correlation.
Content:
- How far do objectives and strategies form part of the backbone of the report?
- Can we see where the entity is on its strategic journey? (short-, medium-, long-term)
- Is there an explanation of the impact of trends and factors shaping its market environment, analysis of its marketplace?
- Is there an insight into the key resources and relationships managed by the company in order to fulfil its strategic objectives?
- How far is risk analysed, mitigated and managed?
Clarity:
- The depth of the information (quantitative data, benchmarks and targets, non-financial performance indicators, KPIs, risks)
- Clarity of disclosures in the financial statements
- Design, look and feel, easy grasp of main messages
- Simpler language for a better read
- Ease of navigation and read for reports presented on CD
Correlation:
- Consistency of message throughout the annual report
- Consistency with the external communications to shareholders
- Financial information available on the company’s website
How all these relate to the strategic themes set out as key to company success?
3. The Awards
Six awards will be presented:
- for the best reports in each of the three Categories mentioned above;
- for the quality of Corporate Governance disclosures
- for the financial information available on the companies’ websites; and
- to an Overall winner.
Special Jury Awards may be presented for outstanding or most improved reports.
Closing date for the submission of Annual Reports: Monday 7 December 2009.
