Selon cette étude de PwC qui repose sur des critères macroéconomiques - plutôt que des prévisions précises - les sportifs anglais devraient bénéficier de l’effet « pays organisateur » (54 médailles). Les États-Unis et la Chine devraient de nouveau caracoler en tête de ce classement des médailles.
