The Myanmar Government initiated a wide range of changes in March 2014 which took effect on 1 April 2014. This includes changes to the Taxation Law (which covers income tax and commercial tax), Stamp Duty Act, Social Security Law and Court Fee Act.
While most of the changes may have been introduced to harmonise and simplify the rules as well as to encourage tax compliance, this bulletin provides an overview of the major changes impacting foreign businesses and investors in Myanmar.
