The voice of CEOs

The region’s economic growth over the last decade has not coincided with equally buoyant labour and human resource development. The mismatch between supply and demand, both in terms of the quality and quantity of labour available, is amongst the most pressing challenges to Arab businesses going forward. These are the views of prominent Arab CEOs reported in the Arab Human Capital Challenge produced by the Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The Arab Human Capital Challenge clearly demonstrates that without concrete changes today, future regional growth and development could be severely hindered. Encouragingly, many of the Arab business leaders interviewed expressed a strong desire to build public-private cooperation to enhance the quality of education in the Arab World. The report sets out a clear action plan for governments, business leaders and academics and provides two unique indices as benchmarks to track changes:

  • The Education Capability Index
  • The Education Involvement Index

The report represents the opinions of 587 prominent business leaders in 12 sectors from 18 countries across the Arab World.
