The voice of Arab CEOs

Economic confidence in the Arab world is at a record high. However, a shortage of skilled talent poses the biggest threat to sustainable business growth in the region—greater than political instability or terrorism. These are the views of prominent Arab CEOs reported in the 2008 Arab Business Intelligence Review produced by the Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The Arab Business Intelligence Review clearly demonstrates that without concrete changes today, future regional growth and development could be severely hindered. Encouragingly, many of the Arab business leaders interviewed expressed a strong desire to build public-private cooperation to enhance the quality of education in the Arab World. The Review sets out a clear action plan for governments, business leaders and academics and provides three unique indices as benchmarks to track change:

  • The Economic Confidence Index
  • The Education Capability Index
  • The Education Involvement Index
  • The report represents the opinions of 587 prominent business leaders in 12 sectors from 18 countries across the Arab World.
