Records & Document Management: Case Study

Document management strategy articulation and execution (European Union Institution)

Issue

Many business processes critical to this Institution rely on efficient, robust and business compliant document management capabilities. In practical terms, the Institution generates a very significant number of documents in many forms and languages. These documents, all along their lifecycle, need to be authored, translated, revised, validated, exchanged with other Institutions or entities, published and archived. The existing business processes and applications in place to support the daily work are diverse and generally lack consolidation and integration.

With the objective of improving the overall document management capabilities and more importantly the underlying business processes, the European Institution has requested independent advisory services from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Approach

PricewaterhouseCoopers supported the Institution in defining a Document Management strategy designed for consistency across the various areas of the administration. The translation of the strategy into operational objectives led to a series of projects enabling a complete control on documents.

Moreover, PricewaterhouseCoopers assisted the European Institution in reinforcing the program management activities and in achieving results in a consolidated manner aligned with business requirements.
