Deals Strategy
Taizo Iwashima is currently the Leader of Deals Strategy practice in PwC Japan.
His professional service career as financial auditor started in 1991 when Taizo joined Aoyama Audit Corporation (later became Price Waterhouse Japan) where he worked in the audit practice for seven years, serving clients such as Asahi Kasei and Japan IBM. For the three years since 1998, he was stationed in the Silicon Valley office of PwC in the U.S., performing audit work and stock exchange listing support for Japanese companies (NEC, Toyota, Aisin, etc.) and other high-tech companies in the Bay Area. Upon his return to Japan in 2001, he joined the Transaction Services practice of PwC Japan, providing due diligence and post-transaction services to clients. He has been involved in a large number of domestic and cross-border M&A transactions across a wide range of industries. In 2012, He joined M&A Advisory (Corporate Finance) practice as a partner and had lead Japan M&A Advisory practice from 2014 through 2017. He was newly appointed as the leader of Japan Deals Strategy practice in 2018.
Since 2011, he has served as the Global Relationship Partner for Hitachi Group, overseeing at the global level all services provided by PwC to the entire Hitachi group of companies. He has also provided M&A related advisory services to other major clients such as Toyota Group, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sumitomo Electric Industries, and Asahi Kasei.
