PricewaterhouseCoopers Jamaica Admits New Partner

Kingston, Jamaica, 1 July 2008 - In pursuit of its strategy of providing a full suite of services in the areas of Assurance, Advisory and Tax to the Jamaican business community and Government through the deployment of a multi-disciplinary cadre of partners and professional staff, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) today announced the admission of Garfield A. Reece to the partnership, with effect from 1 July 2008.

Mr. Reece will focus on Assurance services, particularly in the rapidly expanding Internal Audit Outsourcing and Systems Process Assurance practice areas.

“With the admission of Mr. Reece, there will be two partners in the Internal Audit Outsourcing and Systems Process Assurance practice areas to meet the increasing demand being generated by the recognition that strong internal controls and corporate governance are both good for business and the bottom line.” said Everton McDonald, Territory Senior Partner.

Garfield Reece joined PwC as a trainee auditor in January 1996, transferred to the Information Systems Risk Management Department (IT Audit) in 1998 and progressed rapidly in that department to the position of Manager in 2002.

In July 2004, he was promoted to the position of Senior Manager in charge of Internal Audit and Operational & Systems Risk Management Services and prior to his admission to partnership, was a Director in the Assurance Department.

In addition to his Bachelors Degree in Accounting (UWI: 1995), Garfield, during his distinguished career in the firm completed the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants examinations (ACCA) in December 1997 and obtained the highly sought after Certified Information Systems Auditor designation in June 2000.

Garfield, who is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica, also specialises in the statutory audit of life insurance companies and recently returned to Jamaica from a six month transfer to PwC in Toronto where he honed his skills and experience in that industry.

Garfield has made presentations on Information Technology (IT) Internal Audit and IT environment controls in various fora and has participated in several firm sponsored management development training seminars.
A keen Wolmerian, he participates in the school’s career day events and is also involved in UWI’s Mentorship programme.
