PwC Jersey competes in store wars - December 2009

A team from PwC in Jersey raised over £7,000 for Barnardo’s in December 2009.

Part of the charity’s ‘Store Wars’ initiative, the Jersey team competed with 19 PwC offices across the UK to increase average daily sales of the local Barnardo’s shop by the biggest percentage.

Of all the offices taking part, the Jersey team came second, helping store manager Linda Vaughan-Walker boost sales by 2,627%. They did this through a range of activities including selling Barnardo’s badges designed by local schoolchildren, organising a quiz night and holding an auction.

In total, the 20 PwC offices raised £114,391.48 - the most ever raised by a single event for Barnardo's.

As well as helping to raise the profile of Barnardo’s’s locally, the ‘Apprentice’ format of the initiative enabled the PwC team to work in areas that were completely new to them.
