Newly appointed Directors David Waldron in Guernsey and Becky Brewer in Jersey further strengthen PwC CI’s leadership team and enhance their ability to provide high quality audit, advisory and tax support to clients across the Channel Islands.
Leading the Guernsey tax business, with a primary focus on providing core tax compliance and advisory services, David Waldron has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience across all financial services sectors. He works very closely with PwC’s UK firm, particularly in the areas of operational taxes including FATCA, as well as in real estate structuring, private equity structuring and investor reporting. David's knowledge of international tax and extensive network of contacts within PwC put him in an ideal place to assist clients in dealing with the changing tax landscape.
David originally relocated from PwC Ireland in 2009 on a secondment which became a permanent transfer to the Channel Islands firm. In Guernsey, David represents the wider PwC global network as the primary contact for all FATCA-related issues in this market. His extensive connections and his capacity to develop collaborative relationships allow him to bring the best of the PwC network and its people to his local clients, providing innovative bespoke solutions to both their everyday and strategic challenges.
Recently married to Fiona, David is a keen cyclist and a well-known face in Guernsey due to his close association with both local businesses and charities. His love of cycling and passion for charitable causes recently led David, along with friends from the Guernsey-based 'Only Fools and Donkeys' organisation, to complete a gruelling 5 day 'Mule Bretagne Brittany Bike Bash’, raising funds for a number of charities and deserving causes both in Guernsey and overseas.
Since joining PwC CI in 2002, Becky Brewer has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience across a variety of industries, although her specialism is with asset management and in particular private equity.
Becky transferred on a secondment from Jersey to the PwC Middle East firm in 2010 as a newly promoted senior manager. Based in the Dubai office, she worked closely with high profile global clients, helping them navigate complex issues. She also worked with a FTSE 250 client helping the business structure their finance function and supporting them through their first annual audit as a listed company. Her time in the Middle East has given her a unique perspective of operating in an emerging market and within a multi-cultural environment.
Becky returned to PwC in Jersey in September 2013 and currently works with a range of financial services clients, although her main specialism is the alternative asset management industry. Her extensive network of contacts means that she is well connected to draw upon the PwC global network’s expertise to support clients as they drive their businesses forward.
Educated at JCG and the University of Sheffield, Becky is a keen swimmer and has represented Jersey a number of times at the Island Games.
Brendan McMahon, Senior Partner, PwC Channel Islands, said:
“I’m delighted to be able to recognise David and Becky’s specialist knowledge, absolute commitment and contribution to PwC – both in the Channel Islands and further afield – through these senior promotions. Their international knowledge and experience, coupled with their extensive connections and ability to foster dynamic, collaborative relationships will prove invaluable in supporting clients, at a time when the local financial services industry is facing significant market and regulatory challenges.
“Both David and Becky are highly talented and valued members of the PwC CI team and will play a vital role in identifying opportunities and threats for the financial services sector locally. I’m excited about their contribution to the continued development of our business as we strive to bring the best of the PwC network to clients and provide innovative solutions to ensure they remain competitive.”
