The client needed assistance in executing the company’s overall IA plan. Due to the global nature of the company and the various industry issues the company deals with, PwC was contracted primarily to assist management in the company’s Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts – specifically around performing tests of controls and updating and creating control matrices and narratives for each of the company’s business units.
What we did:
PwC provided co-sourced IA assistance for client management and the director of IA. The majority of the work focused on controls testing and on providing the company with insights into the effectiveness of its financial-based controls and into compliance with its own policies and procedures. Throughout the year, we also brought expertise from PwC’s Process Assurance practice to offer guidance to the client’s IT director as needed. We also used the PwC global network to support company projects executed in various locations worldwide.
By evaluating and improving its controls, improving risk management, and improving its Sarbanes-Oxley compliance efforts, the client saw improvements in its bottom line, mainly through protection of shareholder value.
