PricewaterhouseCoopers’ new office in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, 29 August 2008: PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the professional services organisation, inaugurated its office in Ahmedabad. Located in the prominent business area of S G. Road, the office will provide assurance, tax and advisory services through its network of firms.

“As one of the fastest growing and most vibrant markets in India, Gujarat has an increasing demand for assurance, tax and advisory services, and will be a key market for us. Our Ahmedabad office will be a conveniently located touch point for clients in Gujarat, and will increase customer interactions locally,” said Ramesh Rajan, Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers India.

As a rising centre of education, information technology and scientific industries, Ahmedabad remains the cultural and commercial heart of Gujarat and much of western India. The economic and industrial growth provides scope for PwC to offer services in the area of Transaction Services, IFRS, Outbound Taxation and Transfer Pricing.

“Our Ahmedabad office will soon have about 50 qualified professionals. Keeping in mind Gujarat’s high growth rate, we expect this number to be 150 by 2010,” said Jairaj Purandare, Regional Managing Partner Western Region, PricewaterhouseCoopers. “Through our highly qualified team, we will make international services and experience available to companies locally,” he added.

PwC’s clientele in Gujarat currently includes various companies from the consumer and industrial products sectors. Through its Ahmedabad operations, PwC will also concentrate on high growth areas such as Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, Pharmaceuticals, FMCG, Engineering and Chemicals among others.
