Hourglass: Edition 13

The credit crunch and global economic downturn has impacted many of
our lives in recent months. We are continually told that things will likely
get worse before they get better. So what role can HR play to ensure
it supports the business through the tough times, and make sure the
organisation is in a strong and agile position for the future?

Managing people in a changing world - Key trends in human capital: A global perspective – 2008

Maximising the value of organisational resources has never been more challenging. This third edition of Key trends in human capital builds on the critical issues that we have identified in earlier years, and introduces new developments of major interest to all executives involved in people management.

Increasingly, there is a truly global appetite for human capital information as a tool to help promote sustainable economic performance. Unlike many other human capital reports, however, we place particular focus upon financial results and their direct relationship with human capital performance. Our report is primarily based on data collected from our Saratoga international human capital database, supplemented by additional research such as findings from the PricewaterhouseCoopers 10th and 11th global CEO surveys.
he report is organised within five key headings containing specific commentary on the trends that affect them:
Human capital impact
Human capital drivers
Human capital foundations
Human capital futures
The human resource function
