Gillian - Assurance

I trained with PricewaterhouseCoopers Dublin in the Investment Management group from 1998 to 2002. After obtaining my Chartered Accountancy qualification I took the opportunity to take some time out and go travelling. On my return, I decided to work in industry and joined a medium sized administration company. I worked there as a European Internal Audit Manager. At the start of 2007 I moved to Galway and worked as a consultant for fund administrators in the statutory reporting area.

In September 2007, after five years in industry, I returned to PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Senior Manager in the Investment Management group based in Galway. The role was a perfect fit for me as I was able to draw on the experience I had gained working with administrators as well as my previous experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers. The flexibility PricewaterhouseCoopers provided to accommodate my personal life was a big factor in my decision to return particularly as they were very supportive of me working from Galway.

I am working with both hedge and traditional funds that range in both their accounting standards and their complexity. As I am based in Galway I cover administrators in the West/South West as well as Dublin, my client portfolio is so diverse that no two days are ever the same.

Having spent time in industry I can now really appreciate the support network that an organisation such as PricewaterhouseCoopers provides; there is a structured career management framework that allows you to focus your training and development needs and as a result your career is driven forward in the most appropriate direction.

My decision to return to PricewaterhouseCoopers has definitely been the right one for me – not only is the work varied and rewarding it is also the perfect platform to build an interesting and rewarding career.
