Yelitza - Advisory

I am originally from Venezuela but have been in Ireland now since early 2007. Back home, I studied accountancy and worked for a few years in the oil industry. I had always an interest in working abroad and was attracted to PwC because it is a global organisation. In 2004, I joined PwC Netherlands and then transferred to PwC Ireland.

When I arrived in Ireland, what surprised me the most was the multicultural environment. Here, we have people from all over the world which makes it a very interesting place to work. The sharing of knowledge, different points of view, and different ways of working is a great experience that you would rarely find in other companies.

I am part of the Risk Assurance Solutions team. We provide experience and knowledge of risk management. We look at our clients internal controls and advise on the right controls to provide reliability that enable management to make business decisions.

One of my most interesting projects was the advisory work we carried out for one of our multi-national Irish clients. This involved developing an information technology risk management framework for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. This job gave me the opportunity to travel to different countries like Spain, Germany, Italy, UK, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico etc. In addition, it gave me the chance to work closely with other PwC employees around the world and develop my network within the firm.

There are a lot of things I enjoy about my job however one I would like to highlight is the close relationship between our people and our clients. I am very pleased with the fact that our clients trust our judgements. Everything is about client service and PwC ensures that working together as a team (client and PwC) we meet client expectations and deliver on promises.

Overall, my job is really dynamic and there is no time for being bored. Every day brings a different challenge. Aside, from working hard there is an abundance of social events all year around which makes working life much more enjoyable. Also, we have an international society which gives all overseas joiners the opportunity to meet in social events and share experiences.
