Name: Djohan Pinnarwan (Partner)

PwC has an overseas secondment program. This program provides opportunities to work abroad with the firm. Djohan, one of our Directors, went for secondment to PwC London for 2.5 years

What was your role?
I worked for Global Accounting Consulting Services in London

For how long?
December 2003 until July 2006

What did you do?
I carried out research and consultations for clients’ technical queries. I also developed training materials to be implemented consistently by PwC around the world, in addition to producing publication materials and reviewing company financial statements to ensure correct implementation of IFRS.

What did you find interesting about this project?
I could travel across Europe and I learn a lot positive things about European lifestyle, especially their independent life.

What professional experience did you obtain?
I learned not only technical skills but also my interpersonal skills. My mentor really helped me overcome many difficulties. I learned how to solve many tasks that I had not been able to previously. The way my mentor managed his subordinates was a valuable lesson for me.

What were the people like?
They were very welcoming and really cooperative. As they came from many different countries, we learned from each other about each individual’s perspective.
