2. Hints for the Assessment Center Of what type of exercises does an AC consist?
  • Tests
There are lot of type of tests, e.g. test on different type of abilities, personality and competency test. These tests can be general ones or tailored to a specific job. These tests do not measure lexical knowledge, so you can not be prepared for these. The tests show the level of a certain competence, so can’t speak about successful or unsuccessful tests.
  • Presentation
You can prepare to this part of the AC. On the one hand it is possible to have a prework (e.g. introduction presentation) the days before the AC, on the other hand the presentation skill is can be developed.
  • Situation exercise
The candidate has to solve a problem in a real life situation.
  • Group exercise
During the group exercise the candidates solve problem or make decision(s) together. The observers from the firm focus on teamwork and cooperation between the candidates.
  • Interview
Usually the Assessment Center is the final stage of the selection process, sometime an interview is part of this event.

You can not be prepared for an Assessment Center, it is not like a school exam. All you can do is be rested, so you can give your best in the AC. Do not imagine a personality for yourself, show your real personality. If you play a role, it turns out immediately, and your performance can not be evaluated.
